A Beguiled Love Affair

Beguiled lips and an awkward hand
Do you ever get those days once you finish a super long shift at work where all you want to do is blow all your hard earned money away on things you clearly don't even need? Yes? Good. At least I'm not alone!

After work today I thought I'd go and treat myself to a pinch of pampering and buy myself some new make up supplies. It may seem silly of me to do so considering I'll be flying off with my family to the United States in eight days, but I honestly had a bone that I needed to scratch.

Working at Forever New has only increased my need to shop; every time we get a new collection I scan each piece - analyse how they sit when customers try them on and make up my mind by the end of the shift. It's as simple and as deadly as that.

Today however, I refrained and simply bought a make up brush set- completely silly since I already own my own set of brushes, but this came in a really cool snake skin 'wallet inspired' clutch and I honestly had to have it. I'm actually also really excited to give it a go; it may not be professional make up artist standard, but it'll do for back ups!

Work, you're doing it right.
But onto much worrying tales. After I finished my little splurge at work, I went to Topshop and thought I might treat myself even more with a lipstick that I already have. I'm sure you can't blame me for my love affair with Topshop lipstick. The pigmentation of Topshop lipstick is perfect for me and adds great matte and a tinge of gloss coverage.

Beguiled by Topshop $15 - come back to me.
Beguiled. That was his name. It rolled of the tongue perfectly and left my lips tinted in a perfect shade of wine. I scanned the shelves, squeezed myself through teenage girls who should have been at school, only to find it not there.

 Devastated. Shattered. Confused.

I shamelessly went online and searched up the beguiled shade on their website; it wasn't there either. I don't mean to overreact but I felt like my heart had been pulled out and thrown to the floor. I honestly don't know, Topshop Topman in Sydney - you broke my heart and I hope you have a way to mend it.

So my question is (out of desperation and curiosity); does your Topshop sell the lipstick in the shade 'Beguiled'? Have you ever had a love affair with an item they've taken off for the season?
Perhaps it'll be in stores when I go to America and I'm just being a crazy kid..

Fifty Shades of Sunsets.

Hey guys, how have you all been? I apologise for my lack of blog posting this week; I've been incredibly busy with work, meeting up with friends, preparing for my USA trip and trying to catch up on lost sleep! Tomorrow is the last day of our long weekend here and I intend on using it to its fullest potential - by sleeping in!

I will seriously try and get in some more posts before I leave; I really want to start my own youtube channel - have any of you guys set one up and if so, how did you begin to post videos; what was your first video about? I'd really appreciate some feedback!

So, before I leave to continue watching my pick of the Australian Open grand final, Andy Murray battle it out against Novak Djokovic, I'll leave you will my mood board for the week, my love of gold and all things warm. I'd like to call it: Fifty Shades of Sunsets. Lame?

Postscript: these photos are not my own; they seem to be the last photos I liked on tumblr. AND! if you guys have a youtube, link it! :) x

Community Announcement? No, not really.

Hello fellow bloggers!

So, I don't quite know why I'm writing this blog, I don't have anything important to say - well, from what I can think of. How is everyone doing? Hopefully your weekend has been splendid!

Just letting you all know that this week I will begin to write product reviews and outfit posts - so look out! And, does anyone have any tips they can perhaps share with a newbie like me? Or should I just go with the flow and yano, play with it?

The Liebster Awards

To start things off I woke up this morning only to discover that the lovely SARA  has nominated me for a Liebster award! I've seen this on a few peoples' blogs and to be nominated is truly heartwarming considering I'm never nominated for anything, so thank you Sara! - I think everyone should check out her blog!

So what is it?
The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers with 200 followers or less as a way to help promote them to others. I think this is a great initiative for people like me who have just started their blog, gain more followers and hopefully meet more people!

The rules are:
  • ·  Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
  • ·  Answer the questions that the tagger set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged to answer.
  • ·  Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
  • ·  Go to their page and tell them.

11 Things About Me:
  1. I absolutely love anything with bacon in it; it's so odd
  2. I don't look like a 20 year old, nor do I act like one
  3. I'm a freestyle rapper and people don't often expect that
  4. I often tend to burst out in interpretive dance; yes, in public
  5. I love food far too much to commit to a healthy eating diet
  6. I would love to start a Youtube channel but I'm scared people will laugh at me, not with me
  7. I absolutely hate feet, toes - it makes me want to vomit
  8. I have a not so secret crush on the boys of One Direction; but I don't even care
  9. I'm currently studying a bachelor of media (public relations and Advertising) at the University of New South Wales
  10. I would love to go to England for a year as part of student exchange
  11. I did not stop, collaborate and listen

So here we go!
Describe 2012 in three words and what that year had done/meant for you.
New. Risky. Unforgettable. Simply because that was the year that I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone  - I took a lot of chances and made a lot of my own decisions about my future. I also made new friends and along the way and so I feel like 2012 has really brought me to an understanding of who exactly I am.

What do you love the most about blogging?
Ever since I started using Blogspot I've realised I no longer have to worry about what others are going to think about me.  I like the sense of freedom blogging brings and to find people who enjoy that sense of freedom is refreshing too.

What is your favourite high street brand?
I have a few but it all depends on its purpose. I take it high street is different to high end so I have fallen for Topshop Topman and Forever New (since I work there)

What is your favourite make up brand and why?
I don't excactly have a favourite, I use a lot of different brands for different things. I love my Naked palette by Urban Decay, MAC for the essentials, Topshop lipstick and Rimmel foundation sometimes.

What was the last beauty product you tried that didn't live up to your expectations?
I was really disappointed with the Max Factor lip stain - it's in the form of a marker and barely worked. It was dry and had very minimal coverage. I definitely learnt my lesson.

How do you take care of your skin, what is your routine?
I exfoliate every second or third day with my Nivea Gentle Exfoliating Scrub; I like the feel of the beads on my skin and it feels absolutely refreshing!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you like to live?
At this moment in time I am absolutely done with the Australian weather, it's so undecided! So I've always wanted to live in London; the cool weather and the snow is definitely something I'd love to experience. The accent, the people I've met, I'm in love with it all.

What would be your dream job?
In all honesty I feel like the dream job would be something where I'm able to party with celebrities, travel around the world, receive free goodies and get paid for it! So I'd definitely love to be a part of either the entertainment PR or fashion PR/fashion marketing industry!

What languages do you speak?
I can speak a bit of French and I can understand Tagalog, which is pretty much Filipino.

How would you like to spend your most relaxing day?
No one at home. Sitting in my room with the fairy lights on sipping on some tea and reading a few books. Or lay out in the sun, with a bowl of fruit listening to Ed Sheeran.

Biggest goal you would like to achieve in 2013?
I have way too many goals and things to do! I guess my biggest would be to land a proper position at a PR organisation / start a Youtube channel or get all of 1D to follow me. HA HA HA!

And the Nominees Are! - I couldn't get to 11 :(

My 11 Questions for You!
  1. What made you want to start up your own blog?
  2. What would you say has been the greatest gift someone has given to you?
  3. What would you say has been the greatest gift you have given to someone?
  4. If you had to be a couch for a day, which celebrity would you want to have sit on you?
  5. Where do you see yourself by the end of the year?
  6. If you had to be a song, which song would you like to be?
  7. What is the first thing that comes into your mind when I say: Taylor Swift (lol)
  8. How would you describe your style?
  9. Summer or winter? Why?
  10. If you had to eat the same thing for the rest of the year, what would it be?
  11. If you had to be a Spice Girl, which Spice Girl would you be?
Have fun guys! x

MOMENTOUS OCCASION.

Warning: The following post will contain mild levels of fan-girling, over excitement and One Direction's Liam Payne.

Today has been a miraculous day all because of one little click, one little gesture. Liam Payne, one-fifth of the British/Irish boyband One Direction finally followed me on Twitter today!

I don't think anyone will ever truly understand my love for these boys; I mean, after meeting 3/5 of them I can really vouch and say they are such genuine nice guys. And I'm so E X C I T E D about this! AH! Particularly because, I've wanted one for so long it's ridiculous, and I even put it on my 'New Years: To Do List' and I never expected it to come this soon!

I hope you all don't think I'm some crazy weirdo. I'm pretty sure you all would hyperventilate and squeal too if Ryan Gosling or Leo DiCaprio did the same thing! Right! I'm right.

I'm just so happy, he's such a babe. This year is kicking off with an amazing start, I'm so pumped!

"Niki, can you believe it? For that one second, Liam took time out to notice you, want to make you happy, and follow you." - my friend who pretty much wants to give me a cardiac arrest.

Follow me on twitter, and let me know you're on blogspot so I can follow back! @nkeeezy.

What Do You Get When You Cross Two Bored Sisters?

Hey guys! So, it's currently 45.8 degrees celsius here in Sydney and I'm pretty sure the minute I step outside I'll turn into the gingerbread man; crisp and burnt in the oven which is outdoors. So, for the mean time I'll be staying in the comfort of an air conditioned room with my mango frozen yoghurt!

With that being said, my seventeen year old sister Corina and I decided to experiment. It was her idea actually and she suggested we try something to my hair! At first I was a bit cautious, I don't usually trust anyone with my hair; sometimes I don't even trust my hair dresser, but I gave it a whirl. She had an idea to play with some 'hair chalk'! Hair chalk is basically chalk you put in your hair, straightforward isn't it?! Well yeah, considering my hair is already of the belayage/ombre style we thought we might play around with some red chalk and rub it into the tips.

Corina used a glove because let's face it, no one wants red hands for the rest of the day and began to blend some red chalk into my damp hair. I guess one of the beneficial things about using hair chalk is that it's not permanent and would wash off the next time you wash your hair. Just be careful of your ends of course!

We've always wanted to dye our hair a crazy colour, but our parents never approved of it. Even now, my mum secretly wishes I get rid of my ombre hair! Like, no mum. So this was Corina's idea of an escape which I thought is really clever! You can mix it up if you please, change it up strand by strand! If you've always wanted a dip dye look, quick and easy you could always give it a go. However it's important to note you need to separate your hair into sections so it's easier for the pigments to seep through, and try and wear darker colours! Don't wear white!

What do you guys think? I'm actually tempted to dye my tips red now! Have you guys ever tried hair chalk?

Cara Ra Ra!

So with rumours circulating around the internet as to who could possibly be the new face for YSL's new beauty campaign, I felt it was an appropriate time to create a dedication post to one of my favourite faces in the industry today.

Cara Delevingne; when you hear that name, what exactly pops into your head? Gorgeous? Fascinating? Eyebrows? There's a thousand different words you could use to describe this gorgeous human being, and all I can really focus on is: wow, she's my age, what on earth am I doing with my life?

With a tough, laid back, tomboy exterior comes a fascinating Delevingne transformation into the utmost pristine feminine with a cheeky stare. You can't help but stare into her eyes in any photograph and think, dammit Harry Styles you go for Taylor Swift and NOT Cara, are you ok?

So here are just a couple of photos of a girl who is just a couple of months older than me... Not weird right?

What do you think of Cara as the next face for YSL? And do you think my slight girl crush on her is completely ridiculous?! I can change! Hahaha.

BACK IT UP! Like a tonka truck.

He lived a simple life, he lived a happy life. He lived a life full of knowledge, full of memory, full of melodies. He died a slow, and excruciatingly painful death - a death without a mere sign, no symptoms, no warnings, no goodbyes. He left my life the same way he arrived into it: as a surprise.

Yes, that's right. I'm writing about my beloved MacBook Air whose time came far too soon and far too suddenly. It's rather petty how I'm writing about the death of my MacBook, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who shares the same pain as I felt at that moment.

Casually sitting on my bed catching up on ignored Gossip Girl episodes throughout the last season, my laptop suddenly froze and shut down. Giving up, it took over thirty minutes rebooting itself in the grey start up screen, but even shorter to realise I was in trouble.

Stupidly enough, I failed at backing up my files so you could clearly hear my heart breaking as the hard drive stressed and heated. So there goes my memories; my uploads from my previous iPhone, my videos of One Direction's first live show in Australia, my university notes! It was all gone.

I eventually booked myself in for a reservation at the Apple Store along George St in Sydney. Could these so called 'Geniuses' possibly fix a broken heart? I could only hope so. Reminding me of how clever I was for insuring my MacBook with an AppleCare package I was able to spare myself from paying over $1,500 just to fix the two broken hard drives or, whatever he said.

On the receipt, which I held close to my heart it stated it would take only 3 to 5 days to repair. Well, it's been two weeks. Awkward. I called up the store, after waiting in line for at least 20 minutes only to have them say they're still waiting on parts. AFTER TWO WEEKS?! REALLY?!

I was devastated, I began to think: Should I just give up and get a new laptop? What's the point anymore!

Until...

YES! They gave me a brand new one, the latest edition of the MacBook Air too with the latest software! They continued to apologize over how they made me wait two weeks for parts. I guess they thought it wasn't worth waiting for. Not that I'm complaining. It literally made me so happy (not to sound materialistic or whatever) but I scored a brand new MacBook for free. It just makes me really sad that I don't have all of my old content.

Don't you hate it when you don't back up!?

Once Upon An Internship.

One Wednesday morning, an unmotivated media student sat in her lecture theatre where she hid behind her sweater and laptop. Ignoring the words spoken by her lecturer, she continued to scroll through advertisements for internship spots until she found the perfect one.

I've just finished my first internship at an Australian jewellery company Diva where I worked really close with their online department. It was one of the most exciting experiences of my life so far, and it seemed so easy. I was lucky enough to have avoided the cliche coffee runs and was able to jump straight in with the managers and work on updating the website, sort through stock and attend teleconferenes. This may not seem that big of a deal, but for someone who believed I had no place in the career I wanted, it was all too exciting.

I definitely miss it now that I think of it. We've all made a bond in that office and the need to look and dress fashionably was probably one of my favourite parts. Hopefully this isn't the last of it, perhaps I'll see them again, after all this is just the beginning of my journey.

The 2013 Golden Globe Girls!

It's that time of the year again where the most desirable actors and actresses gather together to flaunt off their talent, their new spouses and their fabulous designer dresses. Oh, how I wish that was meeeeeeee!

I remember back in high school I would save all of the potential dresses I'd like to have for my formal and it just seems to have become something I'd find myself doing; going on all of these websites and fall in love with dresses I would be honoured to even try on!

What I've noticed this year in terms of my favourite looks was: you're either fine or fierce. Did that make sense? Ah, you'll soon understand. Pale shades such as white or even the extremely pale pinks seemed to have caught my eye throughout the night with a dash of luscious red! Check it out.

Anne Hathaway arrived at the event with her new signature 'Les Miserables' hair cut and looked nothing short of spectacular. Her snow white Chanel Couture gown which made its appearance in the S/S 2009 collection maintained a sense of sophistication with a structured peplum top and skirt both subtly embellished.

Hayden Panettiere arrived with a pale, blush pink Roberto Cavalli gown. Elegantly detailed with intricate ruched fabric, the gown was structured to form a snug mermaid fit. Her simplistic approach in terms of accessorising was perfect with her diamond pendant and served the gown perfectly.

I may not be the biggest fan of Lea Michele, but damn, I loved her dress! Arriving in a gorgeous white gown by Elie Saab, Michele was embellished from top to bottom. The sexy thigh high slit and her emerald green earrings complimented the dress' halter neck. Stunning isn't it?

And let's talk about Megan Fox for a second, could she ever do anything wrong? Her gorgeous nude colour Dolce & Gabbana dress looked beautiful considering she's a new mother! I also completely adore her pink jewelled drop earrings, really adding a refined look to her gown!

I also particularly loved the warm tones of red and orange which made an appearance at the Golden Globes! Jennifer Lawrence's appearance in a stunning strapless Dior couture gown was definitely one of the highlights of the evening, and whilst I'm usually a fan of necklaces when it's a bare neckline, but she looks amazing just as is! Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta was a perfect look as well, with her perfectly styled wavy hair do, she takes a bold colour and makes it sophisticated! And, let's not forget Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta and added a touch of quirky, similar to her personality with a cute pearl necklace!

What did you guys think of the Golden Globes? There are so many movies I'm so excited to watch! And who would you say were the best dressed of the night?!

Tasty little treat.

Nothing more difficult than promising yourself you'd eat healthier for the new year yet you don't exactly have anything 'healthy' to start your day other than a box of Coco Pops. Luckily, today I was able to channel my inner iron chef and come up with a surprisingly delightful dish.

We had no milk, so I used no fat berry yoghurt and we had absolutely nothing else other than my favourite cereal which included dried pomegranate, muesli and cranberry clusters. Needless to say it tasted delicious; it's just like frozen yoghurt with the fruit and the granola but not.

It made me feel happy and healthy!
What little experiments have you tried that have made you feel like master chef?

Rihanna, why!

Scrolling through Tumblr on a regular rainy Sunday night and I stumble upon this absolutely gorgeous picture of Rihanna. May we please take a moment of silence to appreciate her here for a second? I mean, despite popular opinion, I for one adore Rihanna! Her laid back, "I actually don't care about y'all" attitude and everything!

She looks amazing. Whilst I'm completely confused as to whether or not her hair is short, long, red, blonde, or brown (it literally changes every day right?) she looks stunning. I particularly am in love with her shade of lipstick - maybe it's just the editing of some fourteen year old girl here, where she enhanced pretty much everything in terms of colour. My hair at the moment is just like hers at the moment, except sadly hers looks much more healthier and I've just fallen completely in love with lipstick I'm so keen to buy a similar shade.

And her outfit. How can any one go wrong with a cropped white sweater these days? I'm on the look out for one, perhaps I'll find one in America? Or online? Does anyone have any suggestions? And what do you think? Yay or nay with Rihanna in general?

New Year: To Do List

This year, I will continue the tradition I started for 2012 and create a "New Year To Do List". It's a list of things, slightly more realistic, that I am to attempt to achieve by the end of the year. It worked well for me last year; I was able to score an internship as planned at Diva, I was able to quit my dreaded job I've had since high school, I was able to meet my favourite singers in person.

This year, will be no different, if not: better.

Get your provisional license.
I've been on my learners for far too long it's time I seal the deal with the RTA themselves and land me my own sense of freedom. I've already started off the year by getting some hours done every day, so hopefully I'll be able to land my P's before the year ends. Let's just keep it constant, I am in need of more road trips!

Save a shit load of money.
Imagine you were to live in another country for a whole year; yep. That's how much I need to save. Or maybe save up enough to finally get a new car, given I complete ^ first. With my mum working as a bank manager usually I have her handling my finances - but this time I need to prove to her that I actually can save up to potentially live on my own.

Go overseas.
I'm already booked to go overseas to the United States in February, however other than that trip I'd like to go overseas again. I'm 20 now, I should really see what's out there before I commit myself to a full time job where holidays are fairly limited. Ah. Europe anyone?

Get fit.
I feel like everyones' perception of the word fit is being able to wear shorts and a crop top showing off your tiny waistline and your thigh gap. Well, I won't lie, that was what I've always wanted but now I just want to have a toned body - and I guess that won't happen if I eat the things I eat now. Wah.

Continue getting a PR/Advertising/Journalist/Marketing gig.
I was able to score an amazing role as an intern at Diva (a popular Australian chain store for jewellery) working on their marketing and online content. Hopefully this year I have even more luck so I set myself up for what's to come next year.

Meet One Direction/ Get a follow.
This is so lame, but it's not coming off the list. Last year I was able to meet and hang out with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan from One Direction when they were in Sydney at the Ivy Pool Bar - it was definitely one of my favourite memories. This year, I have to meet them again, I'd cry if I didn't, and I need to get a twitter follow. This is how lame my life is ok.

Score a distinction average.
If I rock my subjects this semester, hopefully I'd be able to apply for a student exchange I've always wanted to do. I'd be able to study in England and gain some experience there whilst also achieving my idea of going overseas!

This year seems too jam packed now that I think of it, I have a lot to work on. I wonder if I'd be able to fit 'Finding a boyfriend' in there too, or maybe I'd be one of those characters in movies who are just so career focused they wind up single until they're 30. Oh.
